Dr. Almaz Tadesse
Chairperson

Dr. Almaz Tadesse

Dr. Almaz Tadesse brings more than twenty years of leadership in community development and public health across East Africa. As Chairperson, she guides board governance, strategic planning, and partnerships with regional institutions. She previously directed a national maternal health initiative and has served on several nonprofit boards focused on rural education. Dr. Tadesse holds a doctorate in public health and speaks regularly at conferences on ethical nonprofit leadership. She is committed to transparent stewardship, ethical fundraising, and measurable outcomes for the communities Siltie Community serves, and she champions policies that keep beneficiaries at the center of every decision.

Samuel Bekele
Vice Chairperson

Samuel Bekele

Samuel Bekele supports the Chairperson in board leadership and chairs the governance committee. A former civil society advocate and legal advisor, he specializes in organizational policy, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. Samuel has helped scale grassroots networks into nationally recognized programs and mentors emerging community leaders across the region. He reviews bylaws, risk registers, and partnership agreements to protect the organization's reputation. His focus on accountability and inclusive decision-making strengthens the board's oversight of programs, finance, and long-term sustainability for Siltie Community's mission and its partners worldwide.

Helen Girma
Treasurer

Helen Girma

Helen Girma oversees financial reporting, audits, and budget approval as Board Treasurer. She is a certified public accountant with extensive experience in nonprofit finance, grant management, and donor reporting across multiple currencies and jurisdictions. Helen ensures that resources are allocated responsibly and that the organization meets regulatory and funder requirements on schedule. She works closely with the executive team to align spending with strategic priorities and publishes clear financial summaries to maintain donor confidence. Her quarterly reviews help the board anticipate funding gaps and plan sustainable growth for years to come.

Daniel Mekonnen
Secretary

Daniel Mekonnen

Daniel Mekonnen serves as Board Secretary, maintaining official records, meeting minutes, and communication between the board and executive leadership. With a background in nonprofit administration and communications, he ensures that governance processes are documented, accessible, and timely for all stakeholders. Daniel coordinates annual board reviews, policy updates, and orientation for new directors, and he manages the calendar of committee meetings throughout the year. His attention to detail and collaborative approach help the board operate efficiently while upholding Siltie Community's values of integrity, openness, and respect for the communities we are privileged to serve.
